This virtual seminar, hosted via Zoom, will educate you on your rights as a worker. They will be discussing the Employment Standards Act (ESA), minimum wage, deductions, pay statements, overtime, vacation pay, working on public holidays/public holiday pay, hours of work, breaks, Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA), termination, severance, different types of leave and the Ontario Human Rights Code. DIGITAL LITERACY FOR YOUR JOB SEARCH: AUGUST 27th from 10:00am – 12:00pm
This virtual seminar, hosted via Zoom, will help you understand the basics about today’s digital landscape and how LinkedIn and other social media platforms play an important role as personal brand marketing and job search tools. We will discuss the significance of a person’s online presence in a globalized digital economy; highlight best practices for representing yourself on LinkedIn and in Zoom interviews, and take note of the soft skills and lifelong learning approaches one can employ to continuously grow as a professional in the information age. NEW ONLINE YOUTH JOB CONNECTION PROGRAM
In these unprecedented times during the COVID-19 pandemic we will offer all workshops online and support remotely. The next session will run for 3 weeks beginning on Monday August 10th and will run to Friday, August 28th. The program will be offered monthly to the end of the year.
Candidates must be:
Between 15 – 29 years old, currently unemployed, looking for a job or career
NOT attending or returning to full-time school or training
60 hours of paid, interactive pre-employment training to prepare youth for the workplace
Job search, resume and interview support
Workplace communication, time management and social media techniques
Job maintenance skills and mentoring
First Aid Awareness, WHMIS, Employment Standards
Employment placement to gain valuable work experience
Being that the program is being conducted online it is also imperative that you have access to a personal computer, reliable Wi-Fi/internet connection and privacy to attend online sessions with camera view.
