Job Introduction – Shop Supervisor
Our Shop Supervisor under general direction, plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the operations department of CIM Metals Inc.; and performs other related duties as assigned. A successful candidate will be a well-organized team player and flexible in his/her role in doing what is best to maintain or increase production throughout. The Shop Supervisor must be able to work a regular 40 hour work week with a day shift 8:30am – 5:00pm.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Assesses workload, prepares staff schedules, and assigns and delegates duties performed within the facility.
Plans, assigns, prioritizes, and evaluates the work of subordinate staff.
Makes recommendations for changes in staffing as necessary to meet demands of workload;
Interviews applicants and makes recommendations for hire;
Assesses training needs, develops training programs, and trains new and existing staff in various aspects of machine operations, repair, and maintenance.
Counsels employees and recommends corrective and/or disciplinary action when appropriate; and documents employee performance and maintains employee records.
Develops, implements, enforces, and maintains safety standards, policies, practices, and procedures in order to comply with laws and regulations and minimize accidents and injuries; assists in the planning, development, and implementation of safety programs; conducts and documents monthly safety meetings.
Prepares and approves requisitions for parts and supplies; and develops and implements inventory controls to minimize waste and loss.
Help, drive, motivate, and encourage staff to achieve production targets.
Skills and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the following experience and skills:
Excellent customer service and computer skills.
Experience interpreting blue prints and drafting using AutoCAD.
Excellent Health and Safety record (safety-minded) and up to date WHMIS training.
Excellent attendance record and punctuality.
Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
Experience in an ISO 9001:2008 environment and knowledge of Quality policies and practice an asset.
Handling and Physical Requirements:
Frequent movement including: bending, twisting, lifting 50lbs bags of sand, carrying and pulling of raw materials and finished parts, etc.
Standing for up to 8 hours per day.
Wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment as per company standards (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed CSA certified boots).
