ASI is a Canadian-owned company that was founded in 1980 in response to increasing public awareness of the importance of the province's heritage. With offices in Toronto and Burlington, we are the largest archaeological and cultural heritage consulting firm in Ontario. We perform archaeological excavations throughout Ontario; exploring everything from 19th century historical homesteads to 15th century Indigenous villages. ASI is a family friendly and inclusive employer.
A working knowledge of archaeological field methods is desired in this position but we will train if this method is unknown to the candidate. We are happy to train you on identifying and processing artifacts recovered in the field and to recognize and interpret archaeological features.
Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks (e.g. walking long distances or hand excavation) in adverse environmental conditions (e.g., rugged terrain, remote locations, hot and cold temperatures as you will be outdoors). We start work early in the morning; you will need to get to site or to a central meeting location no later than 7 a.m. We have a central meeting site at our office located in Burlington.
You will need excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
We work on tight-knit teams out in the field, so successful applicants must be able to work well in groups.
This is an excellent seasonal job for someone who likes working in a team enviornment outdoors while learning an exciting new skill. We look forward to hearing from you.
