Responsibilities and Duties:

Services the mechanical requirements of the Packaging department. This includes the setup, repair and preventative maintenance of all Packaging equipment.

Work closely with the Packaging Team Leaders to ensure the facilitation of the packaging schedule through the efficient changeover and running of packaging equipment.

Assists in the preparation of packaging line changeovers by:

Providing assistance to the Maintenance Manager in planning and establishing time lines for changeovers;

Reviewing tooling needs prior to changeover;

Ensuring change parts are available and in good condition, as well as stored in a sanitary manner;

Advise packaging Team Leaders of potential areas for concern prior to changeover.

Facilitates efficient line set-up and pre-run inspection by:

Providing  consultation and assistance to packaging staff on an as needed basis during changeovers;

Reviewing mechanical condition of line prior to startup.

Assisting packaging personnel in test running all components of the line.

Facilitates efficient line operation by:

Providing training, consultation and assistance to packaging staff on an as needed basis during line operation;

Reviewing ongoing packaging machine downtime and participating in corrective action as required.

Assumes responsibility for PM work orders associated with the packaging machinery. Will confer with Maintenance Manager where additional resources are required.

Assists the Maintenance Manager in recommending mechanical change parts and spare parts as needed for packaging equipment.

Works as a team with the packaging staff to help trouble shoot and resolve mechanical problems as required by the maintenance Manager.


Qualifications and Skills:

1 - 3 years’ experience as a Certified 433A industrial mechanic with experience in a manufacturing environment

Problem solving, decision making skills and troubleshooting capabilities

Ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines

Motivated, self -starter who can work independently within a team environment with minimal direction and a passion to learn

Able to respond to the needs of a multi-shift operation

Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Communicate effectively with co-workers and possess excellent people skills

Flexibility and adaptability to overcome challenges and successfully execute projects

Have a positive attitude and be customer service oriented

Be able to stand for long periods of time

Some heavy lifting required
