Job Purpose

The Production Associate is a skilled, organized and energetic individual capable of assembling belts and belt assemblies, rollers, as need by the company, partially or completely, working at a bench or on the shop floor while observing all posted Safety Rules, as directed by your supervisor or manager.

Duties and Responsibilities      but not limited to:

The Production Associate performs some or all of the following duties:

Follow the Work Order Instructions, Drawings Information and Production Work Instructions appropriate to the task you are performing and upon completing, double check your work against the information you are required to follow. All company policies are also expected to be followed.

Complete the appropriate section of the Quality Inspection Checklist in full and sign off prior to sending the job to the next department. Always ask questions on information you’re not sure of.

Complete your Work Orders by observing the Due Dates listed on your daily department Work Order Due List or as instructed by your Supervisor.

Wear the appropriate protection to perform the task at hand by referencing the appropriate Material Safety Sheet for the protection information recommended for the glues, solvents, coatings etc. that are being used.

Keep and maintain the cleanliness of your work area and perform a 10 minute clean-up at the end of each day. Clean up the temporary area where you were working before leaving that area. Clean out the company trucks on your arrival back from Installs, pickups or deliveries etc.

Report all machinery problems/trouble etc.to the Production Manager.

Returns any inventory or shop supplies used to the appropriate shelf or area.

Operate appropriate machinery as required, relying on the training you’ve received and during the performance of your duties, follow all posted machinery ”Safe Operating Procedures”. Do not operate a machine you’ve not been trained on.

May be asked to participate in the Belt Install, Service and On-Call Rotation Program. The Customer Service Program is a 24/7 operation whereby an annual schedule is issued to each employee for On Call Customer Belt Installations. These services can take place either during or beyond regular work hours i.e. weekends/after hrs. When you are scheduled to be “On Call” you are required to have a company phone with you and respond to all calls received.

Must participate in the annual On-Line Health & Safety Training.

May be called upon to assist and/or train new workers.

Other duties as warranted.

 

Qualifications

OSSD or equivalency

Certified Forklift Licence an asset

Must have 1-3 years’ manual production experience, ideally in the Conveyor Belting/ Manufacturing environment

A driver’s licence with a clean driving record is required

Must be mechanically inclined with crafty attention to detail

Strong communication, presentation, organizational and leadership skills

Intermediate MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, an asset

Effective use of technology, instruments, tools and information systems

Strong problem solving, conflict resolution, teamwork, time management and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions

Normal operating hours are 8:30 am – 5 pm Monday to Friday + rotating on-call installation schedule with overtime work. 

All CCBI employees will be required to be available for annual inventory which will take place on the first business day of each new year and will require after hours work and possible weekend work.

Physical Requirements

Standing for repetitive periods of time is required.

You will be in the production manufacturing areas where you will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals to include the moderate noise level and you are required to protect yourself accordingly.
